The Photonics
Department develops advanced photonics systems and components
for government and commercial applications. The
department brings strong capabilities and extensive experience
to complex optical and fiber optical system design and integration,
precision alignment and assembly, electro-optic device design
and integration, and component hermetic packaging. We have a
tradition of innovation in nonlinear optics, volume holographic
technologies, and photorefractive optics.
A rich portfolio
of intellectual property and cutting edge technology enables
component
and subsystem solutions, as well as the delivery
of high performance prototypes. Key applications include free-space
laser communication and encryption, low-loss fiber optical
switches, compact and high-speed beam steering devices,
high-speed zoom lenses, wide field-of-view image
steering devices, and custom optical and fiber optical systems.
